Two alumni Mansfield Fellows have new positions at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and are working together in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office. Both Riley Downing and Adrienne Vanek are now Foreign Affairs Specialists in the UAS International Division. Although their roles have not yet been fully defined, Mr. Downing currently is serving as the point person for UAS activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Ms. Vanek’s portfolio is likely to focus on global strategy and planning, civilian-military cooperation in NATO, Europe-Middle East-Africa, and international research liaison. Mr. Downing participated in the Mansfield Fellowship Program as a representative of the FAA from 2016-2017. Ms. Vanek participated in the program as a representative of the U.S. Senate from 2002-2004.
