Gain a comprehensive understanding of Japan’s national health care system, specifically how it is able to achieve universal coverage through a statutory multipayer system. Develop an in-depth understanding about how Japan is able to achieve better health outcomes while spending a lower share per capita than the United States. Upon return, use this knowledge to inform various policy options that the U.S. Congress or Administration could consider to achieve universal coverage and lower health care costs.
