Mansfield Fellow Shares Expertise on Medical Device Development Strategies
Earlier this month Mansfield Fellow Kenneth Cavanaugh (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA) participated in the 6th Annual Meeting of Japan’s Society for Regulatory Science of Medical Products in Tokyo. During a session focused on how international collaborations can help facilitate medical device development in Japan, he delivered a presentation titled, “Current situation of global device development strategies in the U.S.,” in which he described some of FDA’s efforts to create better opportunities for companies outside the United States to enter the U.S. medical device market, with special emphasis on Japanese companies. Dr. Cavanaugh, pictured above, is Associate Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Devices at the FDA. His current placement in Tokyo is with the Office of Medical Devices II at Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency.
