Mansfield Fellows Visit Kagoshima Prefecture
November 15, 2018
Last week, the current class of Mansfield Fellows visited Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan, organized by Japan’s National Personnel Authority. The three-day study tour included visits to the Chiran Peace Museum (chronicling the end of World War II) and the Museum of the Meiji Restoration (celebrating the region’s influence on Japan’s political change 150 years ago), as well as a courtesy visit to Ibusuki City mayor Etsuo Toyodome.
The Fellows also visited Kagoshima’s famed onsen before returning to Tokyo for the continuation of their placements in Japanese government agencies.
This week, the Mansfield Foundation is selecting candidates for the twenty-fourth class of Mansfield Fellows, who will be beginning their time in Japan in 2019. Thank you to all who applied, and we look forward to announcing the new Fellows soon!
