MFP No. 21 Meets with Yukio Satoh
Members of the twenty-first group of Mansfield Fellows are midway through their seven-week Japanese language immersion program in Ishikawa Prefecture. In addition to intensive Japanese language study, this program provides opportunities for the Fellows to meet with government leaders and policy experts. This week the Fellows met with Yukio Satoh, a director and former president of the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA). Ambassador Satoh, whose distinguished diplomatic career included serving as the Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, shared his perspective on the future of U.S.-Japan relations with the Fellows. Last week Ishikawa Prefecture Governor Masanori Tanimoto welcomed the Fellows at his office.
